I am interested in finding out the differences between RMAN and SQL-backtrack. Why would someone choose to purchase SQL-Backtrack when RMAN is free from Oracle? Any information on why you chose one product over the other would be helpful. I would also be interested in learning from your experiences good or bad with either product.

One thing SQL Backtrack can do is logical extraction. I don't think RMAN does this.

It means that you can do a hot backup and recover one table out of it. I have no idea how they do it.

I have never used RMAN though. SQL backtrack seems to work quite well, but the licensing is a pain. It is also a pain to make a backup on one server and restore it to another.
