how to bkup archive logs to tape

hi all, i'm a unix admin w/limited experience with oracle. i've been asked to write a script that backs up the archilve logs to tape when the logs reaches a % and then deletes it. does anyone have any examples they would like to share.....much appreciated. thanks!!!

Archived log files are just regular unix files. You can use tar or cpio to get these files when your filesystem gets to x%.
