Hi guys
Could you tell me how to do Migration of Oracle 8.0.4 running on NT to Oracle 8.1.5 on Solaris 2.7?
Thanks

1. pre-create your database on your solaris box.
2. export your database on NT
3. ftp the .dmp file to your unix box
4. import
Since you are switching platforms, you can't just copy the datafiles and start the database. Export/Import is your only option...

Hi Akash,
You wont get documentation specifically for your task I will give you some steps to start with
1) As Jeff said Pre create a database if you are new to Oracle DBA you can use DBASSIST to create a database on ur solaris 2.7 system
2) Export the database on NT from command prompt
exp system/manager@oraclesid full=y
3) ftp the .dmp to ur solaris server
4) Import the datbase on solaris from ur Unix Prompt
imp system/manager@oraclesid full=y ignore=y
For help on Imp and EXP you can type
EXP -help
or
IMP -help
Hope this helps to start

Hi Akash,
DBASSIST is called as database configuration assistant which is GUI which helps to create, modify, delete a database in the system by simple steps so that even if you dont know the commands to create a database it will create the statement and execute it for you
Hope this helped
