    Hi! All
I have loaded ORacle8.1.7 onWin2k. Now from the same machine I try to take export from a ORacle8.1.6 on a Solaris machine. It is giving me a error Ora-904(invalid column Name ) and Ora-1003(no statement parsed) .

    Anye reasons why?

my exp with release 3 is not good.
some packages called by catproc aren't run during db installation.

if you install release 2 iam sure the problem won't resurface.

Some export views is not compatible with different versions of Oracle.
For example: from 817 you will not be able export of 815 databse at all. I can't tell you exactly about your situation.

The export utility is not backwards compatible, i.e. you cannot use a higher level version of the export utility to export a lower level version of the database.

Your database must at least be compatible to 8.1 in your init.ora. Make sure that you have java package installed on your database.
