Oracle create two sub folders NET80 and NETWORK at the time of installation. What's the difference both also has admin folder, which one is use in connection.

In NT I would think Net80. Does both have the listener.ora?

    Net80 vs Network folders

I think the network folder is created for backwards compatibility. The new versions of the software will use the net80 directory but if you have any client software from a previous version still in use it will be looking for the network folder. So make sure your tnsnames.ora files are kept in sync.

    Hi

The Network folder is used by sqlplus, forms, reports and graphics this folder is used by sql net configuration

The Net80 folder is used by sqlplus80 etc and this folder is used by Net 8 configuration.

I agree that tnsnames.ora should be the same in both the folders

Network folder for "backward" compatibility? Don't think so! 8i uses the "network" folder and not "net80". Net80 was used in versions 8.0.x (and may be retained for backward compatibility!).

    Any other ideas?
