I am looking at a create sql statement for one of the Tibco products that I am working with and in it is a create sequence statement, specifically "create sequence ddyyxx$BININDEX", and I am trying to understand how the $BININDEX bit works. Can you give me an explanation or direct me to a file/website for an answer? Appreciate your assistance. Thanks.

ddyyxx$BININDEX is just a name of the sequence, that's all. $BININDEX is just a part of the sequence name, nothing special about it.

I do not know the Tibco products so you may totally ignore my post.
But, is this on Unix ? And the scripts getting executed through shell scripts ? In that case, the $BININDEX might be some variable that needs to be set or will be deriving its value from some inputs to the shell script.
