Oracle 8i and OAS 4.0.8.2

Hi,
Is OAS 4.0.8.2 compatible with oracle 8i.

Right now we habe Oracle 8.0.5 and OAS 4.0.8.2 running in our shop. We are planning to upgrade the database from 8.0.5 to 8.1.7 and keep the OAS version the same for the time being.

Just wanted to check whether we are trying to open a pandora box or not.

Is anybody running 8i and OAS 4.0.8.2.

I would think that it is not. But on a second thought would beleive that making it to be compatible is feasible.

OAS 4.0.8.2 max 8.1.6
iAS starts with 8.1.7

I would suggest that you look into migration OAS to iAS, if you are planning to move on to 8i Rel 3.

I was able to configure the iAS on 8.1.6, 8.1.7. The way the iAS creates those files are differnt from that of OAS in some regards. There are documentations that talks about the compatibility issues in the metalink.
