    Hi,

I did an oracle 8i(8.1.7) EE installation on NT. There was an other installation, which we remove completely
ie (Services,+Regedit entries). Later , the installation went through fine, but 2 things did not happen

    1) At the end of installation, I did not receive the 'succes' banner.

    2) The Oracle service (OracleserviceORCL) is not started.

WHat could be the reason. I have changed the oracle home and installed but for vain.

    Please help

Do you have a Novell Client installed on the machine. I had the same problem and that was because of the Novell Client.

If it is installed uninstall it then install Oracle and install it again.

Also you might want to take a look at the metalink for Note:1075227.6

    Yes anurag,
I have novell client installed on my NT box. But when I try to look for all the installed products using the universal installer, I say - No products installed.. but all the OFS is created with files.

HOw did you resolve your problem?

    How is that?

It is a bug in Oracle when being installed on Servers with Novell Client.

I had to uninstall Novell Client and then install oracle on it.

Try that and it might work.

The bug number is 1560970. You might want to check out the metalink site for more details on the bug.
