export database version 8.1.6 and import to 8.0.4 database

Hello All,
I need the help from all of you regarding the export and import utility. I am going to export dmp file database versionis 8.1.6 and import to the database 8.0.4. I know this will cause the downward compatibility issues. But, is there other way to do it ? Please help me on this..

well, you will have to export AND import with the 8.0. binaries, but you should not lose anything if you do not use some exotic features of 8i

How is the COMPATIBLE parameter set in the init.ora of your 8.1.6 database?

The export has to be done using the higher version binaries. Thus, you will use the 8i export utility and import using the 8.0 export utility.

No, this will not work as 8.0 imp will not recognize the dump created by 8i exp.

It should be done as pipo suggested: exp and imp has to be done with 8.0 binaries.

You can do one thing.

Install 8i in some other client Export from there to that Older version Database and before this Configure Net8 Easy config and test the connectivity....

I am also trying to export from 8.1.6 to 8.1.5 but there is problem of data format. Do I have to export in binary format
if yes then how to do that
