    Hi,
I am trying to discover a node which has 3 databases on it and the process just hangs after reaching 96%. My OEM is installed on a windows 2000 machine and the version is 2.2.

Also I am able to ping the node and also double checked if the intelligent agent is running on that node or node.

    Am I missing something.

    Please Suggest.

    Thanks
    Anurag

    This might work.

Check snmp_ro.ora and snmp_rw.ora in the directory

    $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin

If they do not contain all of the nodes, make a backup copy to another filename and delete them.

Stop and restart the intelligent agent. The snmp files should be recreated properly.

    Good luck.

What is the db version that you are running on the node that you are trying to discover. Did you try stopping and restarting the agent on the node. It could be a network delay that could cause the hang. if that the case try waiting for some more time.

    Hi,
Thanks all of you. It is working now. I rebooted the Windows 2000 Management server and it was able to discover the nodes.

Seems if nothing else works with windows try rebooting and that should do the trick. :-)

    Thanks

    Hi Guys,

I found a work around for the above problem this happens if the following files are corrupted

    snmp_ro.ora
    snmp_rw.ora

The above files are located in

    $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin

and any of the files located in the following folder

    $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent

The Problem occurs in Windows NT/2000 while executing
Discovery Node as it depends on Oracle Intelligent Agent and
if any of the above files are corrupted for whatsever reason
    follow the steps below

    1) Stop the Oracle Intelligent Service using services Icon
    2) Delete the following files

    snmp_ro.ora
    snmp_rw.ora

which are located in the following folder

    $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin

    3) Delete all files from the following directory

    $ORACLE_HOME/network/agent

Do not delete any other folder in the above directory

    4) Restart Oracle Intellingent Service from the services Icon
When you restart the service it will recreate all the above files in the corresponding folder

Now you are ready to Discover Nodes thru OEM

    Regards

    Santosh
