    Hello all,

I'm currently researching methods for moving data from a large MUMPS system to Oracle. However this is not a one time event, but rather a nightly batchrun to update the information every day. I also don't want to copy the full 1000+ flat files to Oracle every day - this will take forever. Has anyone done something like this with MUMPS and know what solutions exist?

Yeah, sure I can create a flat file from MUMPS, ftp it to the Oracle server, write a SQL*Loader control file, and upload the info this way. But if a better solution exist, which will be less likely to break in the middle of the night and can be automated, that would be great, right?

I would appreciate any information on this.

    Thank you in advance
    Nick

I presume the MUMPS stands for Multi User Multi Processor System. As you suggest that tne flat file would be the best option for you to go with. But if it was another database of any flavoure DB2 or etc, then you can use the Oracle Transparent Gateway for that database flavoure to pull stuff from.
