I tried to run backup with OEM on UNIX(Solaris) but got VNI-2015: Authentication error.

When I set the backup configuration, I selected "Override preferred credentials for backup jobs" and entered credentials like -- Username: sys Password: change_on_install Role: SYSDBA

I tried to backup the whole database and a tablespace. Both got the same error.

    Thanks for any help.

Are you sure youve set up Oem correctly. Are you able to issue other jobs from Oem, try setting up a test job & see if it executes .If not you have to set up the Preferred credentials correctly among other things.

I created a test job (just run a SQLPLUS script) and got the same error.

How can I set the Preferred credentials correctly? I thougt that I could select to override preferred credentials.

what kind of backup are you trying to do? Is it an export or RMAN?

What are your OEM and OS versions?

I reset the preferred credentials for the target node which was set incorrectly. It works fine now.

    Thanks for all replies.
