    Hi,
I used an S99dbstart file to automatically startup and shutdown the Oracle instance in /etc/rc2.d. Could you please tell me where I can find the UNIX startup and shutdown log files to verify the Oracle instance startup/shutdown?

It is a Oracle 8.1.6 database on Solaris 8.

    Thank you in advance!

Usually, the startup and shutdown messages are written to /var/adm/messages upon startup or shutdown of the system.
