Could any Oracle Pundit briefly explain what is the difference between the
    1. Enterprise edition and the
    2. standard Edition of

Oracle 8 Datatbase. ( These are two different download or CD's )

From the CD Installation point of view ? What features are missing in Standard edition ?

( It definitly is cheaper, from licensing / cost point of view ).

    Thanks for your time

These are some of the things that you don't have in the standard version of oracle:

    1. Non of the parallel options, like parallel querry and parallel server and etc

    2. RMAN cannot open multiple channel to do backup. it is restricted to use one channel at a time :(

    3. Stand by database feature is disable.

    4. Fast start option is not available

These are some of the many differences. For detail information, I would suggest that you check at http://technet.oracle.com
