    Hello,
Yesterday we had a router which went bad. since the failover system didnt kick in nobody was able to log into our prod box thru sqlnet. I was able to log into the box straight. When i did a tnsping {instance_name} I didnt get anything back. The Listener was up and running. Now the question is if this was the case and when you tnsping an instance from the box itself would the tnsping be sent to the router then back to the box?

when you tnsping an instance from the box itself, the tnsping will not send to the router. If the listener is running, you must get response.
