    I presume that it is case sensitive.

    select /*+ full(a) */ * from a;
    select /*+ FULL(a) */ * from a;

    so do you mean that
    the first one will ignore the hint,
    and the second one will use hint?

    Hi

    I can not tell you that i saw it in the oracle doc, but i know that every time you are using a hint, you use capital letters. if you what to use an index hint, you write the name of the index and the table in capital letters.

    Hint

    Hi, 16th May 2001 13:20 hrs *******

    1)Hint will have no effect if there is more than one WHERE clause.

    2)no where as for as i have not seen anywhere oracle suggest not to use in lower case the using hints

    Cheers

    The "hint" id buried inside a comment (so follows the same rule of comments - no key sensitive). If the syntax is incorrect or the hint is inappropriate, it will be treated as a comment and ignored.
