Thread: Oracle8i takes long time to return error message

    I have Oracle 8i (817), which runs pretty fast on NT.

    However, when an error message is expected, such as a sql query with the wrong column name, it takes 1 to 2 minutes to return an error message. How do you tune it to be faster? Note that a correct command runs very fast.

    The machine has 3GB RAM and 2 CPUs (Pentium IIIX 700MHz). Thanks.

    I'v got the similar problem when instance was destroed after additing new tablespace, I assume that you shall try to create new instance and check it on response time for errors
