Has anyone successfully resolved this issue? I have serched Metalink and tried everything posted there. Oracle Support hasn't provided a solution.

What are you trying to discover? the node using OEM? then you first have to make sure the agent is up and running on the node that you were trying to discover.
start the agent on the node as
lsnrctl dbsmp_start
lsnrctl dbsnmp_status
IS this what your problem? if different please, let us know.

Agent? What's an agent? Ofcourse the agent is up ...
Discover of the node in OEM fails w/the mentioned error
-
this error refers to sqlnet authentication that is being passed by
oem, you have to remove all the files that begins with snmp*
then stop and restart your agent..
enjoy..

FYI: In oracle the Intelligent Agent is refered to as agent normally. So when I said agent, I meant the intelligent agent.
Now follow the steps from boycruz. First stop the intelligent agent on the server node and then remove those snmp_*.ora, normally found under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
and then try to restart the agent and try to discover the node.
IF you have any problems, pl. let us know.

i know what the agent is ...
the agent has been clean started multiple times ... there are no jobs or events registered in OEM against the db in question. The agent binary has been relinked multiple times too. all of the mention tips were tried prior to this postting and prior to asking Oracle for support. we have an open TAR w/Oracle but haven't recieved much help.
an to clean start the agent, you might want to include the services.ora and *.q files ... that will assure a clean restart
