I get this message iin my alert log file and it appaers in aboute every 30 seconds. This is something with the PMON process since there aare PMON trace files that contain the same message....
I use Oracle 22.214.171.124.0 under Linux
What does this message mean?
I'm quiet sure that you must also be getting some error numbers with that like ORA or TNS and etc. IF so, could you please post that error number with the three letter extension.
Looking forward to venture,
There is no error mesage of any kind just the message:
Load indicator not supported by OS !
the alert log file is full with this message appearing almost every 30 secs.
Guess what? this is what I was able to find through a simple google search. I hope this would help you to fix the problem
This problem is two fold.
1. PMON reports bogus error message on LINUX:
'OER 536879337 in Load Indicator : Error Code = 562331928 !'
see Solution #1 and BUG:987647
2. Messages 'Load Indicator not supported by OS !' filled up the
see Solution #2 for workarounds
Apply patch for Metalink ->[BUG:987647].
This bug is port specific for LINUX.
Note that this patch only fixes the problem with inccorect PMON messages.
It does not eliminate the 'Load Indicator not supported by OS !' messages.
There are a couple of workarounds for eliminating these
messages -- 'Load Indicator not supported by OS !':
1. Run crontab on alert.log to save good error and drop Load Indicator errors:
eg. cat alert.log | grep -v "Load Indicator ...." > alert.good
2. Disable MTS may eliminate these messages.
There have been a number of bugs reported on this issue.
Currently, these bugs are still under investigation and no patch
is available at this time.
Disable MTS may work as this is related to Metalink ->[BUG:723579]. This bug is
fixed in 8.1.4 but this fix does not appear to be included in
8.1.5. Please see Metalink ->[BUG:1109425] and Metalink ->[BUG:1103673].
There have been a number of bugs reported on this problem and these
bugs can be divided into 2 catagories.
1. This is not a bug. The message indicates that the kernel load statictics
is not supported.
see Metalink ->[BUG:984456] and Metalink ->[BUG:1164889]
2. The cumulation of 'Load Indicator not supported by OS !' messages
could casue PMON to return ora-000601 and crash.
Metalink ->[BUG:1109425] PMON crashed with ora-601 on LINUX
- The fixes of this problem are to be verified.
The last reply is pretty complete and explains the issue in detail. Ijust upgraded to 126.96.36.199.0 on Linux and I am still seeing the error. Basically, this issue is specific to Linux and the reason being Oracle does not support the kernel load statistics. It is more of a nuisance seeing the error pop up, the error is bogus. You can disregard it.
Hopefully, this helps you.
