export hangs

Export hangs

I have installed 9.2.0.3 software on win2K box and have created a new database. When tried to take the export backup ( connected as sys as sysdba), the export hangs.
We ran catexp again, runs without error. There are no invalid objects in any schema. Still when tried to take export, again the process hung. Database runs in RULE mode.
