dbms_gather_stats

I am on 11g, and is dbms_gather_stats ENABLED by default? In other word, I don't have to schedule the job to update stat nightly, do I?

Yes, in 11g it's enabled.

If you have EM dbconsole installed (or Grid), on th ebottom of the hoe page you will find "Scheduler Central". click on the link and yo will find all the "automatic" jobs.

thanks, and that's what I thought. the only think I don't get it is there are only half of my tables get updated and the other half are not.

Is it b/c there are no changes to data so Oracle won't update those tables?

Exactly, in 11g all tables are "monitored" and stats will be computed only for those that change a certain % (I think 10%)
