I was successfully able to export schema using exp command, for some reason expdp hangs, I have 3000 objects in that schema, expdp hangs after exporting 2960 objects and it hangs at table which has 250 million records.
The oracle version is 10.2.0.3.
I have tried several times, using different parameters of expdp. Also it doesn't show starter jobs more than one, for parallel=4.
Please help!!!!
Logs? check the wait events.
how do you know its hanging and not just getting the data?
because exp is done in 3.5 hr and expdp is still running after 12 hr.
yeah but have you actually worked out what it is doing, it might not be hanging

Are the size of the dmp file in the same size during the above said time? U shall try generating stats on the table using DBMS_STATS and retry exporting only that table to check the performance.
that is of idle wait class..
please check if session is in inactive status?
I did gather the stats and also check the sessions are active, it creates 3 active session and 2 of the session have the above wait and 3rd session have db_sequential_read with 0s wait.
Monitor the size of the dump file, is the dump file getting larger as time goes by?
Yes: your process is working and writting on the file.
No: your process is crispy fried.
No. It stays as 4kb
Do you have free space in the affected filesystem or is it full?
yes, I do have enough free space at dumpfile location. Also I am only doing estimate disk space. When I drop the unique key the estimation part does work, but estimation hangs as soon as I add unique key constraint.
