Sacramento, CA 1 yr Part time Oracle DBA position

The consultant will provide senior level functional and technical Oracle DBA services to the this Government Client's Information Technology Division. The work outlined is a part time position. Contract to commence January 1 2006 and run through Dec. 31, 2006. Location: Sacramento CA. Approx 26 hrs a week, they will be flexible with working hours, it is not time critical, it is back-up.

General activities as defined below.

Maintain and support the Oracle environment at the Government Agency Site
* Assist application developers with problems related to the Oracle databases
* Process Oracle application transmittals.
* Analyze all database level patches and recommend approval/rejection.
* Apply approved patches to the environment as needed.
* Troubleshoot and resolve all Oracle related trouble reports.
* Act as backup to the Unix Administrator

The consultant must have at minimum five years of Oracle DBA development and support experience, preferably on a Tru64 Unix platform. They must demonstrate senior level knowledge of Oracle database design in single and clustered mode. The consultant must demonstrate superior troubleshooting skills on server and application layers.

The consultant is on staff to backup the clients DBA while they are assigned to a development effort for the clients Business Programs Division. The consultant will work under the direction of the DBA.

All time spent on approved tasks will be tracked at a high level and reported on a weekly basis via a time report to the Infrastructure manager.
