Oracle 8.1.6 on Redhat Linux 9.0

I am a newbie to linux.

with the document available, i have installed oracle 8.1.6, During installation I got similar errors like what you got

when installing, an error like this appears:
"Error while trying to make ins_sqlplus.mk"

I got this error for 6 files...

Pl guide me what should i do, to rectify this problem and make oracle to work.

Please give your information in the form of commands (exactly)

I could create the database using dbassist , but when i am logging in using
sqlplus> connect system/manager , I am getting " TNS Lost Contact" Error.
