OK, early days yet to have a big db on solid state drives . . .
. . . but how about online redo logs? We want small, fast, independant and (preferably) cheap drives:
[wild idea] USB2 is claiming up to 400 Mbits/s and you can get 128Mb memory sticks at $50-100 with a claimed transfer rate of 16Mbyte/s. Could we soon be using solid state for redo and control files? [/wild idea]
Can any hardware specialists tell me why it's not just around the corner?
