I have a unique requirement. We have a production database on Ingres 6.4. There are multiple application running on it.
Now we are migrating the database from Ingres to Oracle8i. But for sometime after the initial migration...maybe 8/10 months both the databases needs to be up and running in parallel. During this time the Oracle database needs to be replicated online with the Ingres database i.e. with every manipulation in the Ingres database (the one which is hosting all the applications), the same needs to replicated in the Oracle database immediately.
I searched for some products in Oracle's site. There I got a product called "Transparent Gateway". Could anyone tell me whether this will solve my problem and how exactly does it solve my problem i.e. how it needs to be implemented.
If anyone has got any other solution also...please put forward ......
