backup full database

dear friends,
can any body tell me the difference between "backup database" and "backup full database"?backup full database is equivalent to backup database plus archive log?

Backup with archivelog is same as full database backup but using archivelog it is possible to do online backup or hot backup without archive log it is not possible to do online backup only cold backup or manaul backup is done

I saw "backup database plus archive log" in oracle 9i.
