do you know what are these Companion and Cluster Ready CDs?
I know what the companion CD is - The stuff they had to take off the first disk to satisfy the marketing that said 10g would all fit on a single disk :-)
It includes...
HTML DB, Apache, Workflow, Native Comp libraries for Java, Java Version
of OEM, Some Text libraries in French etc.
Dont know whats on the cluster CD.
  i guess dbasupport.com is more faster for any Oracle News than Metalink ;) ;)Quote:

metalink is slowwwwwwwwwwww
As for installing 10 on Redhat9
Can't install it, was only for testing anyway :confused:Code:[oracle@cim4 install]$ ./runInstaller
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be redhat-2.1, UnitedLinux-1.0 or redhat-3
Failed <<<<
Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/logs/installActions2004-02-09_09-49-00AM.log
you can try to hack oraparam.ini
[Certified Versions]
Linux=redhat-2.1,UnitedLinux-1.0,redhat-3
you probably need to edit /etc/redhat-release, not sure though and use something like
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS (Pensacola)
Ah, I don't think it's that simple :-)Quote:

I will try now...
Actually later cos someone robbed the power cable from my linux box
Did someone try http://otn.oracle.com/index.html :-)
"The website you are attempting to access is currently experiencing network connectivity errors. The problem is being worked on and will be resolved as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
I (stupidly?) posted on metalink forums - can imagine the response now ....
redhat-9 in the oraparam.ini seems to have done the trick ;)
good to know heheheQuote:

Code:runInstaller -IGNORESYSPREREQS
edit /etc/redhat-release, and put Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS (Pensacola) works as well
however Sanjay´s suggestion is by far the best!
btw did anyone get this warning when creating the database?

dbca is my friend :)
on top of that, how do you start the em agent up, i tried emctl agent start - but oem won't connect.
dont know, i dont use EM!
I generated scripts with DBCA by the way, just that I ra the script manually, it worked fine except this warning
I don't use em either, but the default version that comes with 10g is pretty informative.Quote:

yeah its pretty good, I like em that comes with the db.
Just cant get it to start after a reboot :(
if anyone knows whats to do apart from emctl agent start please let me know
Well, no. Not in the long run. You can cheat Oracle this way but you may get all sort of problems with the database in the future.Quote:

been doing that since 8.1.6!
who cares, its not production
You may get all sorts of problems if you don't run in archivelog mode, but people still do it. When you're just trying to get your feet wet, why not run on RH9 if you can? I don't think anybody is seriously contemplating putting a production box on RH9...Quote:
