1. select * from tb_name (nolock)
or
2. SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL
READ UNCOMMITTED
To avoid blocking due to lengthy select operation.

Oracle is different in this aspect.
You dont require to do that as reads are not blocked.
