4 days ago the application which runs against my ora 7.2 db(on Novell , why me) started to crawl. Nothing in the alrt log cpu sometimes hangs at 100% but users even report the prob when its bouncin between 5% and 30%
im checking for missing indexes, but I ran and explain plan on a sql statement that one of the develpoers was using(that i know was making the cpu run at 100%) and it was ez and like 6 lines of explain plan with no full table scans. Any immediate help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance,
SM

Call in the hardware people to look at the unix. could be control card, raid or cpu itself or memory management. Which box is it? hp or sun? look at syslog too.

Could it be you are simply swapping (paging)? Have you or anyone recently changed something in the init.ora?
