Effect of shrinking index tablespace

Hi Guys,
Whats the effect of shrinking the index table space.Will it affect the indexes in any way?Do i need to take the tablespace offline?

It does not effect if you shrink a index tablespace.

For shrinking you dont need to take tablespace offline
