I’m running Oracle 8.0.5 on Solaris 2.7. Is there any way I can create another instance in same machine or is it possible to run multiple instances in same machine? Please let me know the steps on how to create a second oracle instances.

Sure you can run multiple instances on the same box (provided you have the appropriate amount of RAM and your kernal parameters are setup correctly). On Solaris, the basic steps are (if you are using the same $ORACLE_HOME):
1. Change your ORACLE_SID
2. create your database
Jeff, Thanks...it works.....
