Configuring cvs versioning in sql developer - problem

Hi, I am using oracle 11g with windows 7 O.S
I want to maintain the version control for my files and pl/sql stored procedures and packages.
If it is possible Plz give the steps to follow.
or clear the following doubt.
I created the repository directory.
when i go for checkout module it is asking username,repository,password.
But How to create the password?
If i give any password it is showing the error message
'Could not open connection to cvs server.general socket failure'
