Yes. provided it was going to be a full import.

Hi,
Fine, I use the full db export dump, to populate this new (secondary) database.
Now I want to take it to the next level.
How do I keep the secondary db in sync with the primary.
Do daily cumulative db export/import?
May be this is the NOT suggested ? What do you guys say?
thank you,
nk
Cummulative would be a good choice if you plan to do things through the exp.

Another idea is replication, I don't know your reqirement
Thank you Kishore & sambavan
my requirement ?
our backup & recovery strategy is rather limited.
we do only a daily full db export !
And I wanted to impove things and at the same time, wanted to set up a secondary db in sync (with the primary), so that it could serve as DSS (run only queries, no dml/ddl).
It was in the of the light above that I was asking my question.
thank you,
nk
use snapshot read-only replication, refresh once a day.
If this is a production database, I would be a bit hesitant to rely on exp/imp as the only backup method.
