Hi,
How do you determine the location of the pfile used to bring up the database.
We have multiple copies of pfile on the machine and want a easy way to find out whuch pfile was used. I know about the entry in the windows registry. Thats not what i am looking for.
I am on windows 2000 .
Thanks

Absolutely no way to determine that. That's one of the reasons why Oracle9i introduced "spfiles".

What kind of statement is being used to start up the database.
Are you just issuing STARTUP or STARTUP PFILE= or is this a 9i database and a SPFILE has been created for it
The first place I would look is the ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory for an init.ora file.
