Hi Dbas,
Couple of my databases are running under 7.3.4 and i want to migrate to 8.1.6. Applications are developed using Pro*c.
These applications and data are on the same machine.If I migrate to 8.1.6 will they work. What precautions I need to take.

I don't think there would be a problem. However, if it concerns you and you want to verify this, I suggest you test it out in a test environment.

Yes, What Halo said is correct.
But if you wish, you can exploit the features of 8i which was not available in 7.3, by replacing those specific embedded SQL and PL/SQL's in Pro*C.
This will also increase your performance to a greater extent.
(One example - bulk data binding)
