In SCO 5.0 , I have oracle user and other user whose
userid and group are same as oracle user.
And in the profile of the other user I have set
the environment settings such as
ORACLE_HOME,ORACLE_SID,PATH,LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
and the other user is able to login as internal using
SQLDBA utility but not able to fire any query
When trying so the following error occurs:-
SQLDBA> connect internal
Connected.
SQLDBA>
SQLDBA> select * from all_users;
DBA-00342: unable to complete internal login
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-07429: smsgsg: shmget() failed to get segment.
AT&T System V/386 Error: 2: No such file or directory
SQLDBA>
I've checked file permissions, owner, group. And the
REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORD_FILE is not set and it means
that it is OS Authentication.
How to overcome this.....?
My requirement is to enable the other user to fire query
using sqldba utility.

what version of oracle are you using that you use SQLDBA? that's a *really* obsolete db managment tool.

Is the database is up and running? Did you get to issue a RESET LOGS on to the database anytime? What is your oracle version?
One other way to try is
$> svrmgrl
SVRMGR>connect internal

urgent help
Hi
Any one can help in the above issue..?
Expecting...!
-
Blow the dust off the memory. 7.1!
Anyway, the problem may be the permissions for the memory segment, not the datafiles. The system may not allow the second user to access the appropriate memory.
Question: Why does the user need access to SQLDBA? Give them DBA privileges and they can use SQL PLUS for queries.

nac, this is such an old version of oracle, you may not find much support anywhere. some searches on metalink suggested doing a shutdown abort, then attempt a startup. i'm not sure what you mean by the db is up & running but yet "Only I couldn't connect as a different user. " can you connect at all as any user?
can you fill in some gaps?

contin....
Hi everyone,
one thing I forgot to tell is that,
I have created new database with 8k size
according to my requirement.
And removed all the default database files of
default database and disabled the sid ORCL (default). My new
sid is 'repdb'.
So I think when I'm trying to connect as internal
by logging as other user say xyz which has
all file permissions and environment settings,
it is looking in default for the previous
database (ORCL), But even I changed
the SID to 'repdb' and set the same in the xyz user
profile also.
The id and group of the xyz user is same as oracle user
Can anyone help me to get rid of this
My req. is this I have to login as xyz user in unix and execute
sqldba commands.
-
Hi nac,
If ORACLE_PATH (Unix environment variables ) is set in the environment variables and contains a file with the same name as the SID, you will get these errors.
Please refer to Note:1017463.6,
Note:73885.1,
Note:125605.1
in metalink .
These documents have a good explanation to your problem.
