I performed export/import from 7.3.3 to 8.i.7.0 database.
It went good but feel that ther were some grants on certain on dba_tables and role_privs table which are not in effect in new database 8i7. Due to which when than the user who is suppose to run a sql select on the dba_role_privs table is not able to do that in oracle 8i7 while same user can select on dba...view on 7.3.3 database.

Check the imp log file to see the specific error message

never mind I have found the way to work around the problem
it's actually a back point of oracle sys user cannot export his own given grants for his own objects.
