already did that. The same thing's working at the server the same way and the same settings. Just not on the client. Although it has the same settings too

tried that too. The sid without the global name and the global name. Di not give any different result.

You didnt happen to call your server the same name as your sid or instance??
nope. The machine name is like server and the sid name is like orcl and the global name is like orcl.domain

I suppose that you use windows clients. Take a look at the TNS_ADMIN parameter in the registry. Is that the correct path to your TNSNAMES.ORA? Maybe you have more than one ORACLE_HOMES?
What do the error logs say ../network/logs/listner.log
It is the correct path and i only have one oracle home

what is the status of your listner LSNRCTL> status and does your listner support services
