Suppose I have a tablespace on raw device and it gets full. If we assume that I can extend the raw device at OS level, can I extend the tablespace as well?

I don't think that you can grow a raw partition, although I'm not sure, but you could always create a new raw device and add a datafile for that device. If you have a test system try both ways.Quote:

I know that HPUX/ veritas and several others will allow this.
you can if you manage your RAW volumes with Volume Manager, i.e each RAW Device is a Logical Volume
