If I limit the backup piece filesize to 2gb (see below) and only allocate 1 channel, will the backup fail or create a 2nd backup piece?

create a second backup piece.
I'm trying to limit system load by reducing this backup from 4 channels to 1. I just don't want each file to get huge.

You can also limit the rate at which rman reads the files. This throttles down I/O and helps reduce impact on the DB.
