Database Startup
hi all
How do you start the database automatically when the system starts?
Instead of logining as sysdba and giving startup command. Now when i Login as sysdba it shows connected to as idle instance, then i issue startup but i want to automatically start the database. I have aslo set the registry variable Ora_sid_autostart to true in
hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\home.
I am using oracle 8.1.6 in windows 2000.
Thanks

Did you check your windows services? Are they running?

Set the windows service startup automatically on boot.

Thanks for the Response
But the Service is Automatic and also the tnslistener service is automatic
I get the message "Connected to an Idle Instance " when i Log in to start up for the first time after i boot the system.
I want the database to start immediately when the system boots.

This is known problem associated with version 8.1.6. with some installations the database will be UP along with OS with some installation it will not.Even this is explained by the Oracle. This can be overcome by upgrading it to 8.1.7.If u search in Metalink u will get some more information on this.
