Hi
Try
emctl status dbconsole
at DOS prompt.
See if the dbconsole is running. See also the port it uses
Regards
Yes dear, it was not started, so I started it using this...
================
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.PHI_ORA_T1>emctl start dbconsole
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.1.0

cl service is starting.
The OracleDBConsoleorcl service could not be started.

How do I resolve this error please.....
By the way....i rename my computer name to phi_ora but it still using phi_ora_t1 :(
Thanks a million times
well you need to reconfigure em if you change dyour hostname
I think you need to recreate dbconsole
more clues pls :)....do I have to reinstall it hunnies...how do I do it...it is like the DBCA?
hi,
Goto
programs->administrativetools->services
start your oracle services manually also set to automatic.
If ur instance is not started do it manually from that window.
r u using DHCP to get ip address.
if the ip-address is wrong it will not start.
more rubbish, stop it!Quote:

1) The DHCP is not a good idea
2) Remove the old configuration
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
3) Create the new configuration
emca -config dbcontrol db
You'll need the host name/ip, the listener port number, the insatnce name

Thanks dear thats a more clearer explaination.....mwuahhhh:p you are
a real angel to me, and so are davey, pando, and everyone trying to
help:)

I want to install a dbcontrol (once only) but I want to connect to these
different databases one at a time. I am thinking of changing a parameter
value like the instnace name where i want my dbconsole to manage to.
Where do I find that parameter to edit with?
Thanks again
ORACLE_SID, and you need to configure dbconsole per database
Thanks dear....
So I will envoke "emca -config dbcotrol db" 5 times if I have 5 different
databases? hmmmm...and does each make a shortcut in the menu program
tab? where do I find the location of each on the dbcontrol?
Hi again.... I tried configuring one db control for my ORCL db like Mr Bore said,
and I done it successfully. The login web page now appeared. But when I
entered the SYSTEM userid and PASSWORD....nothing happens....it doesnt
bring me to the next page...its just ignoring me  I know my
password is correct. Coz it can detect if I enter a wrong password.
Pls help again....thanks
well you can only have 2, 10gR1 and 10gR2 cant have dbconsole with the others
yes dear....im just working for 1 console for 10gR2 only....but as I said when
i login to the web login page nothing happens. How do I view some errors logs
with this regard
Thanks
Hi!
Each dbconsole controls ONLY ONE instance.
The functionallity you want to achieve is called Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control and to be honest is pain in the..... neck :-)
So if the only reason is to see all the databases from one screen... better start one dbcontrol for each instance, at different port and bookmark the URLS :-)
Cheers
oh no...u didnt get me dear...I have not successfully run my dbcontrol yet...
just forget all other databases please....i am only concentrating of connecting
or controlling one database for now that is 10gR2 db....
I followed your advice which are:
2) Remove the old configuration
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
3) Create the new configuration
emca -config dbcontrol db
and I did it successfully...but...
I can not understand
why nothing happens when i logged into its webpage. Its just ignoring my userid/password which is SYSTEM/MANAGER.
help plsssssssssssssss.....thanks
You need sys/passord as sysdba
I tried it and same thing happened dear....its seems looping on the logon page :(
Any error message or anything?
no error shown dear....its just going back to the login page over and over
Out of ideas, sorry
:) do you have any idea which home directory, logfiles, and parameter files
does the dbcontrol read/write onto?
OH is same as the database
The rest should be located at subdirectory of OH witht the strangest name, composed by the host name and the instance name
Also look at OH/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole
thanks dear:cool: ....i'm just curious about your office/company set-up.
like ur fornt-end applications. Do you use any other oracle products? (aside
from db) like forms/reports 10g,jdeveloper,oracle applications, htmldb, apex, oracle designer, ias, ows, etc. Are you a good application developer too?
Jenny,
I am a consultant and lecturer. I read a lot and know many features (that's my job) but I am not a DBA nor a developer.
Forms & reports - I used them 10 years ago.
HTMLDB and APEX are great - played a bit with them lately
Java .... no idea about that (well, I have an idea but just idea)
I am not a good developer nor a good DBA, but I belive I could be if I start work as a developer/DBA
Regards
Boris
Thanks again...:) ...wow!....i cant imagine how can you be so good just by
reading and no actual hands-on experience
Teaching is a good experience (belive it or not). It gives you the opportunity to discuss with many people their architectures, solutions, problesm and makes you see the things in a way, which you would never imagine :-)
yeah ...i know :) its really fun meeting lots of people especially if u have pretty/handsome students :D sort of an inspiration and apple of the eye.
