Quester
Have you been to the Oracle web site?
I took class at Ralph Kimball's University.
It's not a "certification".
But, you learning from one of the founding fathers of DW.

Quester,
This are the available cert tracks as of now.

I think in OCM, you can "Major" in Data Warehousing. Julian might be a better candidate for this question.Quote:

quester,
There is no cert for Oracle Data Warehousing!!
quester, apart from searching Oracle.com and emailing you what I find, I don't think we can help you any further.
So, let's recap:
1). Julian offered you information regarding doing a Datawarehouse ILT training course through Oracle Education. This can of course be used to "Major" in you Oracle Masters Certification
b). ehaskins has also said a PURE datawarehousing strand doesn't exist.
Conclusion
Is there a Pure Datawarehousing Certification? - NO!
Can you combine Datawarehousing as part of your Oracle Masters? - YES!
You have to be an Oracle 9i OCP before you can become an OCM. You have to choose 2 ILT course to "major" in prior to sitting your OCM.
All this informaion is available for you to persue at the LINK provide by Skid. We have all been very helpful. Surely, this answers your questions?
What is a datawarehouse, Daddy?

A big house with no underware and lots of data :-)Quote:

[1]Well, I'd say pick up that fat juicy 9i datawarehouse manual and start reading it!
[2] This is also a sort of an eye opener to all newcomers(we'll after more than 2 1/2 yr exp with oracle I still feel line a newcomer!!) when it comes to saying I'm an Oracle DBA. So when you say you're certified dba and not having studied datawarehousing then I wonder what the employer would make of your cert if he had DWH
[3] There are sample schema's in oracle 9i where you canstart playing around to exercise the understanding of the basics you picked up from various sources incl oracle manuals etc.
[4] But don't even try to say you're an datawarehouse specialist if you lack that real world exp in datawarehouse...
But on the +ve note, you gotta begin somewhere, so like i said pick up that juicy fat datwarehouse oracle manual....
Why is quester getting this 'BAD' treatment. I think thats kinda rude from few of you guys.
I reckon the we've helped quester, no doubt there's been a touch of sarcasm in the thread, but only becasue so far, nearly all the information provided can be found on www.oracle.com.

A data warehouse is a subject oriented; time variant. non volatile;
integrated collection of data that supports the decision-making
capabilities of the business user.
A data warehouse contains historical data that is not subject to
change, but is refreshed cyclically.
