"you do not have SELECT ON sys.V_$PARAMETER privilege"

Im trying to run oracle repository management so that i can get the oracle designer utility to fire up.. im told im missing a few object privileges, yet if i go to toad I can

SELECT * FROM sys.v_$PARAMETER

and it works just fine. any ideas?

you probably have it through a role, it needs to be granted to you direectly
