I am getting an: "ERROR CREATING SERVICE ORACLEORAHOME81CLIENTCACHE" error when trying to install the Oracle 8.1.6 client on a Windows 2000 machine on a Novel 3.12 (all patches applied) network. I am logged into my machine as Administrator but for some reason the installer crashes towards the end with this error. Any suggestions?
Out of 25 machines, roughly 1/3 install without a problem. The other 2/3 encounter this error.

I found that if I don't log into Novell first and just log into the machine locally as the system Admin, this error does not occur. The system then works fine with Novell. Does anyone know why this error might have occured? There are no Novell permissions that would stop me as an Admin from creating a service.
