Hi,
We're using oracle8.1.7.1.5 on windows 2000.
And we have oracle 8.0.5 client installed on most of the machines at the client site. Will there be any implications by using 8.1.7 with 8.0.5 client ?
Please advice. I need to get back to manager regarding this issue.

The 8 Clients can talk to 8i server without any problem. But vice versa would only be an issue. Make sure the tnsnames/oracle names were configured to look into the server.

No problem within Oracle. We have 8.0.5 clients and 8.1.7 server.
Even here, ther seems to be no problem when I connect to orcale using sqlplus or the dos prompt. But when our application tries to connect , it just gives the error ORA-12203.
The front end we're using is Omnis.
