Moving data warehouse

Hi,

We are going to migrat our data warehouse (Orace 7.3.4) on Novell 5.1 to Sun Solaris Ultra Enterprise 450 (Oracle 8.1.5) soon. I have never done anything with Data Warehouse before, how should we do it? Anything particular should be aware of? Please indicate me some guidelines for doing that. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,

What size is your database??

Is it too large to export/import??

Are both machines on the same LAN?

As you are going to a different O/S + Oracle Version the
best route would be to use export/Import - however if this is not practicle
because of the size of the warehouse it could be possible (If both machines are on
the same LAN) to use database links.

Or you could use a combination of both. ie export/import the system tables and
any small user tables then create a db_link and use 'create table as select'
over the db_link for tables too large to export.
