hi everybody,
i have a simple question. I want to upgrade oracle applications 10SC, database 7.3.4 to 11.5.3

I want to know if i can choose upgrade option in rapidwiz which also installs the same cds throu' staging area on a machine which doesnt have 10SC with database 7.3.4 and then migrate or upgrade the database using the dump file of oracle 7.3.4 which has been exported and kept as a dump file.

or choose upgrade option in rapidwiz on a machine which has 10.7 already installed with a database 7.3.4 ??

pls clarify

thanks

Hi,

Take the following steps for a 10.7 to 11i upgrade:

1. You choose upgrade in the rapidwiz, this installs the 11i software and a 8.1.6 software tree.
2. import the 10.7 (7.3.4) dump file in a newly created 8.1.6 database.
3. run AutoInstall (adaimgr) in the 11i appl_top to finish the upgrade.

This is basically the upgrade process, however you should take a look on Metalink for any
pre- or post upgrade high priority patches !

So it is not necessary to upgrade on the same machine !

Regards,
Robert.

hi robert,
thanks for your response. I have done those steps, but, i am stuck at one place during adaimgr.
after going through a series of questions, during which i had to create some tablespaces, i got an error, autoupgrade error, some files for install or upgrade are missing.

for example : u01/oracle/prodappl/admin/preupg/ECELADYR.sql
there are around 50 missing files like this

it is found in that directory, why am i getting the error, i even changed the ownership, still the same error.

thanks

Never seen this problem before.
There is nothing on Metalink about this ever been reported before.
Are you sure the right of the files and the directory are ok?
If so then you should log an iTAR with Oracle support, but
you probably already done that.
